John was born July 16, 1947 in Atlanta, Texas to Sam Ed Sr. and Ollie Mae Henderson. John was a charter and lifetime member of the Radio Amateurs of Cass County.
He attended Douglassville Methodist Church, and was retired from International Paper Company where he worked for over 30 years. He was in the Texas Army National Guard and Army Reserve where he was on the Marksmanship Team. John was the former Fire Chief in Douglassville, and also a rancher, golfer and avid outdoorsman.
